“Northern Night”
Bronze, patina, Corten steel, 80 cm, 2025
The sculpture depicts a finely restrained male portrait that allegorically embodies the cold, star-filled night of the North — a night with brilliant stars born of the frosty freshness of the air and the spectacular glow of the aurora borealis. Another layer of allegory is the image of the so-called “cold” intellect of a man, with its logical structure and far-sighted vision of the world. The generalized forms of the head are complemented by the sculpture’s smooth, patinated surface which, together with deep dark-green tones, creates a striking effect of immersing the viewer in the metaphorical world conceived by the artist.
The sculpture “Northern Night” is part of the diptych “Balance,” which explores the idea of uniting different — and sometimes even opposing — elements into a single, cohesive structure.
